There are about 28 well corroborated characters with derived states shared between humans and orangutans and a number of other features that are also specialized in humans and orangutans but my represent primitive retentions from an ancestral anthropoid or lack sufficient published documentation to verify their status. Character polarities here refer only to the most derived state (1). State overlapping or the same as the outgroup (gibbons and monkeys) assigned primitive character state (0).
